Beyond our normal budgeted support of agencies ministering to the vulnerable in our community, Second Presbyterian Church provides avenues for additional funding for agencies serving those in need in our community through specific grants, funds, and special offerings. Donations to these funds are always welcome.
Outreach Offering
Each month, Second Presbyterian Church designates a different recipient of the Outreach Offering. The Outreach Offering was created to respond to real time, critical needs that may arise within the community or to further support our mission partners beyond our budgeted commitment. Recipients are invited to share their organization’s goals and work. Funds donated by members toward the monthly cause are sent to the recipient agency at the end of each month.
Contact the church to submit a request for Outreach Offering support.
Lil Brown Fund
The Lil Brown Benevolence Fund was established in 2009 to fund grant awards in support of mental health issues in our community especially when they intersect with poverty. Grant applications must outline a specific grant purpose, have a clear impact on mental illness in our community, and include budget information. Grants are awarded for one year and generally range between $1,000-$7,000.
The application deadline is January 31 of each year. Contact the church if your organization is interested in applying.
Mountain Avenue Fund
The Mountain Avenue Fund was established in 2018 with the objective of supporting local agencies dealing with issues of hunger, homelessness, poverty, and at-risk children. Awards from this fund are to be used to support the operating expenses of local agencies and are not to be used for capital improvements.
The application deadline is January 31 of each year. Contact the church if your organization is interested in applying.
